Deal! Purchase a Volvo in Europe
I was shopping for a 2007 Volvo XC90 and came across this deal. It’s definitely hot and we’re going to pull the trigger on this one. NOTE: No, I do not work at a car dealership or work for Volvo.
Volvo Overseas Delivery Program (more info here)
The regular OSD deal is: Purchase a Volvo (normally 8% below MSRP), get a free trip (airfare for 2 on SAS, 1 night hotel @ Radisson SAS) to Sweden to pick up your car, use it to drive in Europe and it’s shipped back free to the dealership where you bought it. That’s just OK, right? (details of what you get
What’s makes this deal HOT is the fact that they are trying to get rid of the 2007 models to make way for the 2008s. So, for the XC90, they are including the Climate Package ($675), Premium Package ($2995) and Metallic Paint ($475) AT NO EXTRA COST! That’s a total $4145 in savings.
For the 2007 XC90 (osd price list for 2008), it will be slightly cheaper than the 2008 price list. For 3.2 AWD, it’s $35,135 before the usual taxes/fees. BUT that comes with the extra packages mentioned above PLUS a trip to Sweden (Gothenburg). Crazy, but some people have just stayed 1 day to sign the papers and flew back afterwards.
BTW, I’ve shopped around a ton of dealers in and out of state, via CarzDirect, via Costco, and this has to be the best deal so far.
The only downside that I can see is that it will take 8 – 12 weeks after your trip to have your car. But we can wait!
If you’re looking for a Volvo at massive discount and have sometime to travel, check it out!
Update – 6/11/07
We found a local dealer that offered to do this for $1000 less than the “fixed” OSD price. So for a 2007 XC90 AWD in a titanium metallic paint with climate, premium and versatility packages, normally $37,385, we got it for $36,385 before taxes/fees!
